Rigorous radiolabelling validation methods are critical to ensure that images are correctly interpreted. To achieve this goal all of our data processing methods are verified and accurate corrections for tissue attenuation in different anatomical regions are calculated on a subject- by- subject basis. Regional tissue attenuation factors are calculated from transmission images. A complete electronic data trail from raw image file to attenuation, decay and background corrected data forms part of our standard reporting procedure.

Our lung imaging protocols include Krypton-81m gas ventilation scans to ensure accurate definition of lung margins. Mass balance calculations have confirmed the accuracy of tissue attenuation correction factors and image processing procedures. The combination of validated radiolabelling methods and accurate image analysis enables precise determination of radiolabel and therefore corresponding drug distribution within the subject.
